Keyboard Georgian online

The layout at a glance

This Georgian virtual keyboard mirrors the layout used on physical Georgian keyboards, whose top row begins with ქწერტყ. Its 47 character keys reach the 33 letters of the Georgian script (U+10A0–U+10FF) straight from the browser, with nothing to install.

The layout reaches 33 characters that an ordinary Latin keyboard does not carry: ა ბ გ დ ე ვ ზ თ ი კ ლ მ ნ ო პ ჟ რ ს ტ უ ფ ქ ღ ყ შ ჩ ც ძ წ ჭ ხ ჯ ჰ.

How to type in Georgian

  1. Click the on-screen keys or type on your physical keyboard — both write into the same text area.
  2. Shift shows the second layer of every key: capitals and the characters printed at the top right.
  3. The Copy button puts the whole text on the clipboard, ready to paste into an email, a document or a form.
  4. The Google, YouTube and ChatGPT buttons run a search with the text you typed, without retyping it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I type Georgian Mkhedruli letters?

Click the Georgian letters on the virtual keyboard. The Mkhedruli alphabet has 33 letters and no uppercase.

What is the Mkhedruli script?

Mkhedruli is the modern Georgian alphabet. It is unicase (no capital letters) and largely phonetic, with one sound per letter.

Does Georgian have uppercase letters?

No. Everyday Mkhedruli is unicase. A separate all-caps style called Mtavruli exists for headings but is not used as normal capitalization.

What is the Georgian keyboard layout?

The common layout is a phonetic mapping of Georgian letters onto QWERTY key positions.

How do I type Georgian numerals?

Modern Georgian uses the standard Western numerals 0-9. The old alphabetic numeral system is archaic and rarely used.

Can I type Mingrelian or Svan with this keyboard?

Mostly. Those languages use Mkhedruli with a few extra letters, so most text works but some special characters may be missing.
